It’s deja vu all over again

As Yogi Berra once said, “It’s deja vu all over again.”

I think that was the same forecast last weekend. You may have noticed, we did not get blasted by snow and freezing rain.
I admire weather forecasters, I really do. They try to predict what an unpredictable force will do three or four days from now. It has to be a difficult job. They have nowhere to hide when the forecast goes horribly off, like last weekend. I make fun of their inaccuracies, but still watch.

Speaking of watching, I tuned in the Green Bay Packers game last week and was surprised by the halftime news report from the Rockford station airing the game. Free rides New Year’s Eve were offered, the Bears lost, and the temperature was going to be 50. News that was two weeks old at the time. And they wonder why people like me want to watch Chicago stations.

I think we need to start a pool on what will go into the former Nippon Sharyo building. Sold for $15 million to an unknown LLC, you would think there would be some announcement of a plan for the building.

Tesla making electric cars here? Another railroad car manufacturer? Mercedes Benz? Inquiring minds want to know.
The same can be said for the development just south of the tollway in DeKalb. That site is rumored to be an international food manufacturer/processor and will be the biggest manufacturing site in DeKalb.
The “significant but unnamed” manufacturing/warehousing complex could eventually employ approximately 1,000 people.
Maybe some of those who left the state for greener pastures will be coming back for the greener pay.

Sometimes I get an email from a company about an order I placed. Actually, an order I did not place. There is always a link so I can get my payment refunded. A payment I have not made, mind you.
This is phishing…and it can be profitable for scammers.
A school district in Texas had a construction project ongoing and the “builder” sent an e-mail to the district financial office explaining that the payment process had been changed and gave the new information.
Long story short, the district sent more than $2 million to a bogus account.
Be aware friends. Be very aware.
