The Hubs varsity wrestling team faced off against Harvard and Marian Central Catholic in a triangular meet at Marian Central this past Saturday, with the Rochelle grapplers winning their first dual with the Hornets while falling in their second matchup to the Hurricanes. Rochelle’s overall record stands at 8-7.

Rochelle moves to 8-7 overall after Friday triangular meet

WOODSTOCK — The Hubs varsity wrestling team faced off against Harvard and Marian Central Catholic in a triangular meet at Marian Central this past Saturday, with the Rochelle grapplers winning their first dual with the Hornets 42-30 while falling in their second matchup to the Hurricanes 45-28. Rochelle’s overall record stands at 8-7.

Harvard

After earning a forfeit at 113 pounds, Harvard took a 12-0 lead over Rochelle when Uriel Herrera pinned freshman Grant Thompson at 120. The Hornets received another forfeit at 126 before Chase Bischke won by 4-3 decision over Hub senior Andy Silva at 132.

Rochelle senior Justin Hernandez put the Hubs on the board with a 5-3 decision over Zachary Bokowy at 138. Junior Eddie Villalobos lost a hard-fought match to Keenan Brummett by 3-1 decision at 145 before Rochelle sophomore Zeke Horn defeated Harvard’s Joseph Anderson by fall. Hub senior Ehren Metzger earned a forfeit at 160 to make it a 24-15 Harvard lead.

Freshman Ben Harvey dominated Jagur Streit by fall at 170, and three straight forfeits for sophomore Bryan Garza at 182, senior Austin Tracey at 195 and senior Alex Harvey at 220 gave Rochelle a 39-24 lead. Hub junior Nick Henson won by 4-0 decision over Francisco Quinones before Bryce Fiegel took a forfeit for Harvard at 106.

Marian

The Hurricanes led 18-0 over Rochelle after Bryce Shelton pinned Thompson at 120, Marian Central earned a forfeit at 126 and Anthony Randazzo won by fall over Silva at 132. Hernandez picked up a 14-4 major decision over Hugh Holian at 138 before Villalobos topped Kaden Randazzo at 145 by 6-2 decision.

Dylan Connell won by fall over Rochelle junior Jacob Fore at 152 to give Marian a 24-7 lead. Luke Silva won by 3-0 decision over Metzger at 160 before Ben Harvey pinned Lou Gaddy at 170 and Tracey survived Joey Fitzgerald by 6-4 decision at 182. Garza (195) and Alex Harvey (220) each earned forfeits to make it a 28-27 Rochelle lead.

Thor Paglialong won by fall over Henson at 285 to give Marian the lead again, and Hub freshman Reese Kirk lost by fall to Jackson Harman at 106 before the Hurricanes received a forfeit at 113.
