HILLCREST — Hillcrest trustees are looking for a new water system operator to replace outgoing Jerry Bevers following his retirement announcement.
The trustees convened for a budget workshop Wednesday, also discussing the new water system operator and a new fiber optic phone system.
President Steve Dodson said the village had interrupted phone service due to lightning strikes the last two years. Following a suggestion to upgrade the system, the village approved a new fiber optic system from Rochelle Municipal Utilities at a cost of nearly $2,500. No timeline has been set involving the installation, which involves two lines at the village hall building.
Following executive session for nearly 90 minutes, Dodson said officials are set to draw up a contract with a new water system operator, which is needed by June 1.
Since the budget did not get discussed, a new schedule for a budget workshop will be arranged at the next monthly board meeting.
