Heritage Fest events offer fun for all ages

ROCHELLE –– All aboard! Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival will have entertainment running all weekend and the main stage is sure to appease many. The festival will take off on Friday, Aug. 18.

The 20th annual festival will be packed with fun for all ages from Friday night to Sunday evening. Carnival rides will be running all weekend and the main stage will be bustling with activity. There is sure to be entertainment for all and all ages during the Rochelle festival.
The youth of Rochelle take the stage first Friday evening for the annual Little Miss Peanut contest. The young girls will have the opportunity to answer questions and show off their unique personalities as they vie to reign as Little Miss Peanut for the following year.
The Vodka Boys will kick off the festival music with a performance Friday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Rochelle band consists of Matt Zilm - Vocals/Guitar, Rob Willis – Guitar, Chris Haas – Bass, and Mike Jerding – Drums.
Saturday
Saturday Morning will rev with the Hub City Cruisers car show held along Lincoln Highway from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The annual car show features a wide variety of classic cars and motorcycles. Six awards will be given out for motorcycles and 10 awards will be given out for cars. Registration for the car show will run from 8 a.m. to noon.
Activity will begin on the main stage with the Soft Shoe Shufflers performing from 8 am. to 10 a.m. Dancers from the Rochelle Performing Arts Academy will follow from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Kid Zone will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fire Station Museum. The heroic dogs from Paw Patrol will be at the Kid Zone in the afternoon.
Magician Brian Holt will appear on the Main Stage from noon to 1 p.m. SoapStone will follow with a performance from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Rochelle Moose will host a haunted maze from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Moose Lodge, 311 N. Main St.
Burn N Bush will take the stage from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Mr. Big Stuff will close out the day with a performance from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Mr. Big Stuff’s music exploits the dynamic drive of a three-piece horn section (the Big Stuff Horns) and a tight, funky rhythm section.  With a repertoire of dozens of covers of both popular and obscure tunes dating from the heyday of swing to the modern era, the band delves into genres of pop, rock, funk, swing, R&B, disco, soul and even punk with equal facility.

Sunday morning, St. Paul Lutheran Church will hold a worship service downtown Rochelle from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Andy Linder, a hacky sac Guinness World Record holder, will perform downtown Rochelle from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. He will showcase his talent on the main stage from noon to 2 p.m.
The annual parade will weave downtown beginning at 1 p.m. Following the parade, Just For Kix will perform on the main stage.
Rochelle Moose will reopen their haunted maze from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Pablo and the Rhythmix will end the festival with a performance on the main stage from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
“Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival is a free, fun family event,” stated volunteer and committee president Lisa Chrisco. “The festival gains success every year since the onset 20 years ago and all entertainment is free.”
The committee organizers look for family friendly entertainers and want to keep the festival an event for the entire family.
