MAPLE PARK — The Lady Hub tennis team took one point from the Kaneland Knights on the road during Interstate 8 Conference play Tuesday evening. Juniors Jordin Dickey and MeLisa Young won at No. 1 doubles, topping Anelle Dominguez and Maddy Rizzuto 6-3, 7-6(1).
The Knights defeated Rochelle 4-1 to drop the Lady Hubs to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in the conference. Kaneland took both singles matches on Tuesday, with Evie Taylor topping Rochelle senior Anna Guevara 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Brenna Sheehan winning 6-2, 6-0 over Lady Hub senior Melanie Gonzalez at No. 2 singles.
Junior Sylvia Hasz and senior Sawyer McGee went three sets with Knight netters Sarah Schimmel and Ashlyn Hain at No. 2 doubles, falling 6-2, 6-7, 3-6. Juniors Josie Lundquist and Megan Thompson played a close match with Kaneland’s Mia Bergman and Jenna Lin at No. 3 doubles, falling 5-7, 4-6.
