ROCHELLE — Senior Sawyer McGee and junior Sylvia Hasz stepped up at No. 2 doubles during Rochelle Township High School’s home tennis match against the Sterling Golden Warriors on Wednesday.
While the Lady Hubs fell 4-1, McGee and Hasz provided the team’s highlight performance, winning 6-7, 6-4, 10-7 over Olivia Pitkin and Amy Zeigler. Sterling claimed the other two doubles matches Wednesday. Juniors Jordin Dickey and MeLisa Young fell 4-6, 6-7 against Lexi Rodriguez and Anna Meltzer at No. 1 doubles, while juniors Megan Thompson and Josie Lundquist fell 4-6, 3-6 to Madison Hubbs and Tori Stutzke at No. 3 doubles.
The Golden Warriors swept singles play, with Rochelle senior Anna Guevara retiring at No. 1 singles and junior Emma Hicks falling 1-6, 2-6 to Kaylee Martinez at No. 2 singles. The Lady Hubs (1-6, 0-2 Interstate 8) will face Kaneland on the road next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
