ROCKFORD — The Lady Hub tennis team played its second of three matches this week against the Guilford Vikings on Wednesday. Rochelle’s netters were unable to secure a win in the nonconference match, falling 7-0 to move to 1-8 overall and 0-3 in the Interstate 8 Conference.
Guilford took all three singles matches Wednesday. Senior Anna Guevara fell 0-6, 0-6 against Kasey Aucutt at No. 1 singles, while junior Emma Hicks fell 1-6, 0-6 against Sara Dennis at No. 2 singles. Junior Margaux DaCosta was bested 0-6, 1-6 against Anja Komazec at No. 3 singles.
Juniors Jordin Dickey and MeLisa Young faced Guilford’s Maggie Thomas and Ashlee Smolenski at No. 1 doubles, falling 5-7, 5-7 in a competitive match. Senior Sawyer McGee and junior Sylvia Hasz took on Katie Larson and Jocelyn Sally at No. 2 doubles, losing 2-6, 4-6.
Junior Josie Lundquist and senior Melanie Gonzalez battled Anju Griffeth and Lillian Olson at No. 3 doubles, falling 1-6, 0-6. Juniors Madison Ost and Ashley Knight took the court against Sarah Toledo and Kaisa Swanson at No. 4 doubles, losing 4-6, 3-6.
