OREGON – Oregon High School senior Austin Strite was chosen by the Foundation for Focus House Scholarship Committee as the recipient of the LaVerne Adams Scholarship in the amount of $500.
Strite is currently enrolled at Highland College and is seeking a dual degree in Civil Engineering and Agricultural Business.
The LaVerne Adams Scholarship Fund was established in May 2002 following Adam’s death. A longtime resident of Ogle County, Adams sat on the Ogle County Board from 1972 until 2002. When the Focus House was established in 1975, Adams was appointed and served as the chairperson of the county committee that oversaw the operation of the program. His family started the scholarship due to his commitment to the youth of Ogle County and the Focus House program.
Russ Crull, Foundation for Focus House Vice President and grandson of LaVerne Adams, presented the award.
