HILLCREST — Village of Hillcrest is without its own part-time police force as of Thursday morning after Hillcrest Chief Danny White and the three other officers announced their resignation.
“I am informing the Village of Hillcrest residents I have resigned as the Chief of the Hillcrest Police Department, along with the remaining officers on staff,” White stated in a release. “While I and the officers are saddened to leave the fine citizens of the village, the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office will continue to provide the services needed by your community.”
White gave no reasons behind the staff resignation, and had no further comment about the decision. The resignations come on the heels of Steve Dodson stepping down from the presidency last month, along with clerk/treasurer Patty Moreno.
Rich Elliott was named as acting president at a meeting earlier this month, but the board is currently one person short and applications are being taken for a full-time clerk and a part-time treasurer.
“I would like to thank former village presidents, Kim Whalen and Steve Dodson, as well as current village president Richard Elliott for their support during the past seven and a half years,” White added. “I would also like to thank those village board members who have shown unwavering support to this department, the officers and myself.”
