ROCHELLE – On July 4, 2026, we celebrate America’s 250th birthday – the Semiquincentennial – and while 2026 is a long way off, start celebrating today at the Flagg Township Museum by viewing the Rochelle Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution Patriot Tree. The Patriot Tree will be on display during the month of August at the museum.

The Patriot Tree was compiled by the DAR to recognize 90 patriots, ancestors of the chapter members, who aided the cause of the American Revolution as soldiers, elected officials, merchants, laborers and supporters. Americans continue to celebrate freedom as a result of the Declaration of Independence established by the then 13 American colonies on July 4, 1776.

The mission of the Flagg Township Historical Society and Museum is to stimulate interest in Flagg Township history through education, research, collection and preservation of information for the benefit of the public of today and in the future. The museum is open Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday is free day.
