METAMORA — Dale G. Trowbridge, 77, formely of Normal, passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018 at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora.
Dale was born Sept. 25, 1941 in Chicago, the son of Cecil W. and Mildred M. (VanHise) Trowbridge. He married Kathleen S. Carroll and they had two children, Teresa and Jon. He later married Catherine A. Kelly.
Dale had a successful career as an Illinois State Trooper. He had a lifelong love for learning. Dale earned two master’s degrees. Dale lived a career of service, focused on helping others through his extensive experiences. He became a licensed counselor, concentrating on domestic violence and anger management. His later careers involved not only professional counseling but human resource management. His last employer was Collaborative Solutions in Bloomington where he worked with the legal system to offer counseling and guidance to those in need. Dale had a great love of animals and spent a great deal of time with his dogs. Dale enjoyed metal detecting, cars, and attending air shows.
Dale is survived by his wife, Cathy; two children, Teresa (Joe) Craig and Jon (Tammy) Trowbridge; four grandsons, Bailey, Jeff, Corey, and Luke; two step-daughters, Jennifer (Chad) Freese and Amy (Kevin Richardson) Kelly; and five step-grandchildren;
Dale is preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St. in Rochelle. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow services in Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle.
