County deputies make drug possession arrest

On March 5 at approximately 10:47 p.m., deputies initiated a traffic stop on Illinois Route 26 near the intersection of Prairie Dell Road. After further investigation Raheem Ashley, 19, of Freeport, was placed under arrest for driving while license suspended. Ashley was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. Ashley was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond. 

On March 5 at approximately 3:10 p.m., Ogle County deputies, along with the Forreston Police Department and the Forreston EMS, responded to a disturbance at 8964 N. Adeline Road. After an investigation, Mark McGinn, 33, of La Porte, Indiana, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.  McGinn was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond. 

On March 5, Hope Thomes, 52, of Forreston, was arrested on an outstanding Ogle County warrant for driving 15-20 m.p.h. over the limit. Thomes posted the $2,000/10 percent bond and will appear in court on March 29.

March 6

On March 6, Diana Staggs, 50, of Mt. Morris, was arrested for failure to appear. Staggs had a bond of $366 and Staggs was able to post the $366 bond. Staggs was released from the Ogle County Jail. 

March 7

On March 7 the following were arrested for Ogle County Outstanding warrants:

Corey Jenkins, 43, of Freeport, for failure to appear. Jenkins has a bond of $189 and was scheduled to appear in court March 9.

Cory Terrell, 35, of DeKalb, for failure to appear. Terrell has a bond of $1,554 and was scheduled to appear in court March 8.

Tavaris McDonald, 28, of Rockford, for failure to appear. McDonald has a bond of $195 and was scheduled to appear in court March 8.

Cheryl Schabacker, 48, of Stillman Valley, for failure to appear. Schabacker had a bond of $836 and was scheduled to appear in court March 8.

March 8

On March 8 at 10:18 p.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a check welfare in the 9000 block of N. Kishwaukee Road, to check on a male subject slumped over the wheel of a vehicle parked in the ditch.  After an investigation, Mitchell Semple, 30, of Byron, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Mitchell was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond. 

March 9

On March 9 at approximately 9:42 a.m., Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies performed a traffic stop at the intersection of Flagg Road and Tampam Drive. After investigation deputies placed Vincent Tabor, 42, of Oregon, under arrest for no valid driver’s license. Tabor was also issued a citation for no valid registration. Tabor was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond. 

On March 11 the following people were arrested for Ogle County outstanding warrants:

Nicholas Hartman, 20, of Freeport, for failure to appear warrant. Hartman had a bond of $456 and Hartman did post bond. Hartman will not have to return for court and was released from the Ogle County Jail.

Lloyd Hernandez, 29, of Sterling, for failure to appear warrant. Hernandez had a bond of $892. Hernandez was given a $1,000 recognizance released from jail, and will return to court on March 25.

Pamela Knapik, 53, of Wonderlake, for failure to appear warrant. Knapik had a bond of $2,511. Knapik was given a $1,000 recognizance bond and was released from jail, and will return to court on March 25.

Scott Shirley, 30, of Mt. Morris, for disorderly conduct warrant. Shirley had a $3,000 bond. Shirley was given a $3,000 recognizance bond and was released from jail, and will return to court on March 29.
