Sterling – On Jan. 13, 2021, Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 2 officials arrested Morgan A. Rains, a 41-year-old male of Chana, for four counts of distribution of child pornography. All are Class X felonies.
In late Nov. of 2020, ISP Investigators initiated an investigation after receiving information that Rains was allegedly engaged in distributing child pornography. A thorough investigation ensued in conjunction with the Illinois Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, Ogle County Sheriff’s Office and ISP District 1 Patrol. A search warrant was executed on Jan. 13 at Rains’ residence. During the warrant execution, Investigators seized evidence supporting an arrest for child pornography.
Rains was formally charged with four counts of distributing child pornography (Class X felonies) by the Ogle County State’s Attorney. Rains is being lodged at the Ogle County Jail with no bond.
The investigation is currently open and ongoing, no additional information is being released at this time.
