TAYLORVILLE — Caroline “Carolyn” V. Curl-Johnson, 94, of Taylorville, died at 11:54 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018 in her home.
Mrs. Johnson was born on Jan. 22, 1924, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Carrie Louise (Tibbie) Campbell. She graduated from Manteno High School and attended the University of Illinois where she studied home economics.
She married Glenn W. Curl on June 28, 1947 in Kankakee, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1979. She later married Harland M. Johnson on March 27, 1995 in Alabama and he preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 1999. Mrs. Johnson was an active member of the Methodist churches in Manteno and Rochelle.
She was a home maker most of her life, as well as an in-home caregiver. She also worked at a munitions plant during World War II. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, animals, art, sewing and spending time outdoors.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her three daughters, Rita (Tyrone) Curl-Langager of Minot, North Dakota, Norma (David) Oldham of Taylorville, and Mary Ann Carter of Red Lion, Pennsylvania.
In addition to her two husbands, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Mary Drazy and husband Elbert, and her brother, Clarence Campbell and wife Evelyn.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11 at Manteno Methodist Church, 255 W. 2nd Street, in Manteno, with Rev. Joy Schlesselman officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior, also in the church. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery, Manteno.
