DEKALB — The Rochelle varsity boys track and field team took second place in the DeKalb triangular meet with Belvidere this past Saturday to kick off the indoor track and field season. Rochelle placed second in the DeKalb triangular meet this past Saturday, scoring 37 points while DeKalb took first with 87 points and Belvidere placed third with 28 points.
Ryan Friestad placed second in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 10.08 seconds, and Rochelle’s 1600-meter relay team of Connor Lenkaitis, Trevor Goodwin, Gyvanziel Quinonez and Jessee Infante placed second with a time of 4:10.63. The Hubs finished second in the 3200-meter relay, with Quinonez, Tucker Louis, Jessee Infante and Connor Lenkaitis clocking in at 9:49.30.
Dylan Finkboner took first in the high jump with a clearance of 5-2, and Aaron Vondergathen won the pole vault with a height of 9-6. Goodwin won the triple jump with a leap of 38-1 ½, and Lenkaitis placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.95.
