STERLING — The Rochelle varsity tennis team faced a tough Sterling squad on Tuesday, with the Hubs falling by a score of 5-0 to drop to 0-10 on the season.
Neither singles player could record a point for the Hubs, as senior Emilio Nava fell 0-6, 0-6 against Dillon Nitz on court No. 1 and junior Sean Flanagan lost 0-6, 0-6 to Grant Bright on court No. 2. Senior Hector Garcia and freshman Jason Zheng mustered just one point at No. 1 doubles, falling 0-6, 1-6 against Andrew Ivarson and Nathaniel Stout.
Seniors Diego Lopez and Alex Galambos played the most competitive match on Tuesday, taking six points in a 3-6, 3-6 loss to Luke Steinke and Josiah Schmitt at No. 2 doubles. Senior Caden Manning and junior Gabe Nava were swept at No. 3 doubles, losing 0-6, 0-6 to Jonas Sticks and Matthew Valentino.
