DEKALB — The Rochelle varsity boys tennis team recorded one doubles point to avoid the shutout when the Hubs faced DeKalb on the road Thursday evening.
Senior Alex Galambos and junior Alexis Quintanilla teamed up to defeat DeKalb’s Dan Le and Bobby Ray 6-3, 7-6(4) at No. 2 doubles. The Hubs were unable to secure any other points, however, falling to the Barbs by a score of 4-1 to drop to 0-8 on the season. Senior Caden Manning and junior Gabe Nava took one set from Eric Torres and Zach Kaizuku at No. 3 doubles, falling 6-1, 4-6, 4-6.
Senior Hector Garcia and freshman Jason Zheng battled Brendan Szostak and Santana Juarez at No. 1 doubles, taking the first set but losing 7-6(5), 3-6, 8-10. Senior Emilio Nava fell 1-6, 0-6 against Emrys Draper at No. 1 singles, while junior Sean Flanagan went three sets with Dayton Warden at No. 2 singles, falling 3-6, 7-6, 7-10.
