ELGIN — Alfred Pepper Rogers, 58, of Elgin, entered into eternal life on Aug. 26, 2017 due to complications of esophageal cancer. He was born in Philadelphia on Oct. 16, 1958 and on Jan. 9, 1982 married his best friend and wife Sharon (Borden) at St. Bridget’s in Philadelphia. Married for more than 35 years, God blessed them with three amazing children, and they built a family legacy that will continue to grow.
Al was predeceased by his parents, his father, Alfred William Rogers, and his mother, Betty Alice Rochelle; and beloved fur babies Babe, Ashley, Cuddles, Doby, and grand fur baby LC.
He is survived by his wife Sharon; children, Matthew (Autumn) Rogers, Kevin (Brittany) Rogers, and Emily Rogers; brother Bill (Helen) Rogers; sister-in-law Dawn (Joe) Allen; father-in-law Glenn Borden, cousins Karen (Dave) Saltzgiver, Joe (Janice) Caruso, Nancy (Jerry) Reath; and a number of nephews and nieces. He also was a cherished friend to many.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, children, family, and friends. Al exemplified a servant lifestyle. His memories, stories, humor, and way of life will live on through his children.
A time of visitation will be from 8:15 to 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16tbefore a funeral service celebrating Al’s life at 10:30 a.m., at Salem Lutheran Church, 1145 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and may be directed to his wife, for their daughter Emily to aid her in completing the 2-year RISE program at Judson University she began Aug. 21.
