Creston’s sewer problems persist

CRESTON—The July Creston Village Board meeting began with unfortunate news, as president Tom Byro reported to the board that a flooded manhole behind Casey’s was found in disastrous condition.

“As most of you are aware, we’ve had severe water problems in this town in the last two weeks. We have found a big problem behind Casey’s. We’ve repaired it but there’s still more problems down there. I’m going to meet with the engineer to come up with something,” said Byro. “It’s just been brutal. The sewer flow is just outrageous. Kathy Cooper from RMU has given me a flow chart here from the month of June. Our normal summer flowage is just a little over 50,000. It was 300,000 that we sent to Rochelle,” he said.
