Kathleen Haas

ROCHELLE Kathleen A. Haas, 58, of Rochelle, passed away on Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago. Kathy was born on Nov. 21, 1951, the daughter of Marvin and Esther (Lipski) Gittleson.

She graduated from Rochelle Township High School in 1970. On Aug. 8, 1970 in Rochelle, she married William G. Haas. She had previously been employed a manager for Walmart in Rochelle and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a hard worker who made many friends throughout her years at Walmart. Kathy was an avid fan of Walt Disney World and visited many times with her children and grandchildren. She always put everyone else first and made many sacrifices for her family and because of that, she made her family the people they have become.

Preceded her in death were her parents; an infant son, Chad Ronald Haas on July 16, 1976; and her father-in-law, Ronald Haas in 1986.

Survivors include her husband, Bill, of Rochelle; five daughters, Jodi (Skip) Sage, of Rochelle, Julie (Randy) McRoberts, of Waterman, Jennifer (Roger) Bruns, of Rochelle, Katie Haas and Kelly Haas, both of Rochelle; four brothers, Wayne (Patsy) Gittleson, of Aberdeen, Miss., Kenneth (Kay) Gittleson, of Oregon, Russ Gittleson, of Belvidere, and Richard Gittleson, of Rochelle; and mother-in-law, Shirley Haas, of Rochelle; grandchildren, Taylor, Makenzie and Lane Isley, Brody Brun,; Morgan Haas and Kristen and Reese McRoberts.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 15 at Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle, with Pastor Judy Williams. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14 at Unger-Horner. Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the family for medical expenses or to Life Goes On Organization.
