OGLE COUNTY — The New Horizon Ogle County Drug Court recently received the news they will receive a grant for $333,496 to use over the course of the next three years.
Greg Martin, head of probation, explained the importance of this grant.
“In going to the national conference last year, we heard from the department of justice staff about this particular grant. We were told not to be discouraged. This is a highly-competitive grant. We are pleased and surprised that we received it in our first grant application.”
Judge Kathleen Kauffmann believes the reason Ogle County received the grant is “the great ability of our county to work together.”
Over the next three years, this grant will support the ongoing implementation process and maintenance of the Ogle County drug court, which began in August of 2009. Ogle county’s drug court is a dream several years in the making between Martin, Ogle County State’s Attorney Ben Roe and Kauffmann.
