Top speed of patrol car in fatal collision was 62 m.p.h.; civil lawsuits filed in Ogle County Court by Becker family

ROCHELLE — A final report of an investigation into the July 27 fatal traffic accident involving a Rochelle police officer released Friday by the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office states that James Jakymiw was operating his patrol car emergency lights and sirens at the time of the collision, and had a peak speed of 62 m.p.h. prior to the collision.

Ogle County Sheriff Greg Beitel reported Friday that the investigation of the crash that took the life of David A. Becker, 72, of Rochelle, has now been completed.
