Last Thursday, the weather conditions were sunny, hot and humid. At the peak of the of the day, 79-year-old Bruce Maynard, of Bellingham, Wash., toiled in the elements as he pushed a 200-pound cart alongside IL Route 38 between Creston and Rochelle.
To the traditional passerby, this was an unusual site as busy IL Route 38 typically receives little to no foot traffic, let alone an elderly pushing a stroller full of cargo and an American flag waving above it.
To accompany his look, Maynardís story was just as unique, as he was in the middle of his journey back to Washington from Wilmington, North Carolina.
