HILLCREST—Supporters and advocaters for the Village of Hillcrest’s recent solar energy project jumped for joy on Friday evening a at Chicagoland Skydiving Center as a celebratory act for the installation of the much-anticipated panels.

Village president Kim Whalen said that although she actively began shopping for solar energy alternatives/money savers for the village throughout the winter months, this project has been a goal for the past few years.

“Since I took office, I’ve always wanted to incorporate green energy into the village. I knew that wind turbines might not be a popular choice, as they require maintenance and are large, so solar energy panels were the practical option,” she said.
