ROCHELLE — Cancer survivors, their family members, and community members gathered at Helms Field on Saturday to fight back against cancer during the annual Relay for Life.
Approximately 200 participants raised money and walked around Helms Field to raise money for the American Cancer Society during the 12-hour event.
“The event went great, it was a lot of fun and a lot of families came out,” Jessica Prath, income development representative for the American Cancer Society said.
The opening ceremonies were postponed about a half an hour due to rain delays but the rest of the day went without any weather concerns. The walk began with the annual survivors lap to celebrate victory over cancer.
