Railers take second in tourney

The Rochelle Railers U12 traveling baseball team placed second in an eight-team Rockford tournament this past weekend. The team was 5-1 and lost in the championship game to Wauconda. ROCKFORD Over the weekend, the 12U Rochelle Railers took second place in the Every Game is Game 7 Tournament in Rockford.

The Railers got off to a good start handily defeating the Wauconda Bulldogs 11-2 in game one of the tournament.

John Kisner led the way for the Rochelle offense. He was 3-4 with four RBIs and one run scored. Johnny Beck was 2-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. He also hit a solo home run. Andrew Johnson had a single, two RBIs and one run scored and Cody Jody Johnson had two hits and one run scored. Brady Shank was 1-2 with one run scored, Lawson Simmons was 1-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored and Noah Knight scored one run. Zack Bernardin was 2-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Kisner started on the mound for the Rampage and recorded the win. He pitched two innings with three strikeouts and no hits.

Beck pitched the next two innings. He had five strikeouts and gave up three hits.
