Rochelle — Ocie Lee Jarrett, 83, of Rochelle, lost his courageous battle with cancer on May 12, 2013 surrounded by his family at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon.
Ocie was born July 25, 1929 at Hickory Flat, Miss., to the late Charles Kefton and Melissia Evaline (Brownlee) Jarrett. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Harrisburg, Ark. In 1956, he brought his family to Rochelle where he was employed for 30 years with Del Monte Plant 115. He married Marion Harms April 18, 1975 in Rochelle.
Ocie is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marion; son, Ronald (Kathy) Jarrett of Hardy, Ark.; daughters, Brenda (Gregory) Cohn of St. Augustine, Fla., Lori (Eric) Johanning of Rochelle, Lisa (Bob) Noble of Paw Paw; son, Lynn (Rebecca) Blackmore of Austin, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Tracey Jarrett, Matthew (Shanna) Jarrett, Christopher (Colleen) Cohn, Shawn (Shannon) Johanning, David (Jodi) Johanning, Kenneth (Megan) Johanning, Samual Johanning, Stephanie (A.J.) Gonzalez, Jeffery (Melissa) Noble, Robert (Amanda) Blackmore, Michael Blackmore, Isaac Blackmore; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Ocie is also survived by two sisters, Ruth Roberts of Harrisburg, Ark., and Lillian (Howard) Niles of Phoenix, Ariz.
Ocie was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Lou Conley and Marie Hester; and a brother, Kefton.
Funeral services will be held at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, with Chaplain Judy Williams officiating. The visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 17, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Serenity Hospice & Home of Oregon, or the Rochelle Senior Center.
