OCHELLE ó A big five-run fifth inning by VFW blew open a close game and led to an easy 10-1 win in Major League action on Monday night.
Leading 3-1 in the top of the fourth, VFW took advantage of four errors and scored five times to take a commanding 8-1 lead over the league leading Kiwanis team.
VFW pitchers Andrew Johnson and Johnny Beck held the Kiwanis hitters in check all night, allowing just one run and two hits. Johnson pitched three and two-thirds innings to notch the win, while striking out five. Beck went the rest of the way and didnít allow a base runner, while striking out four.
