Behr grand opening

Posted: Monday, May 6th, 2013

State Represenative Tom Demmer, Senator Tim Bivins, Behr marketing director Jodie Behr, Mayor Chet Olson, President and CEO William Bremner, William Messenger Senior and city manager Dave Plyman take part in a ribbon cutting ceremony.

ROCHELLE—The Rochelle Area Chamber of Commerce and Business Development and the City of Rochelle participated in the first of two Grand Opening events at the Behr Iron and Metal recycling facility located at 521 north Second Street in Rochelle.

A second public event and tour is being planned for Saturday, May 10.

A ceremonial automobile was crushed to signify the opening of the recycling center. The event was attended by officials, city leaders and staff, chamber members and businesses throughout the “Hub City.”

Significant improvements were made to the property at Second Street and Fifth Avenue, formerly operated by PBM Concrete, manufacturers of concrete and masonry building products. The landscaping and curb appeal of the facility transformed the once vacant area which neighbors both residential and commercial properties.
