ROCHELLE — Representatives from the Ogle and Lee County Emergency Management departments will host a multi-jurisdictional full scale disaster exercise on May 8 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at six separate sites between Rochelle and Franklin Grove.

Rochelle Police Department detective Terry Inman, one of the organizers of the event, said that many people will be involved in the exercise. Those people will include emergency and first responders as well as volunteers.

“Emergency personnel will be faced with several scenarios during the day,” Inman said. “And the exercise will include citizens, government entities at the county, state and federal levels, corporations and non-governmental organizations as well as three area hospitals, and REACT and Lifeline helicopters.”

Residents in the area of the Cleveland subdivision and the area of the Helms Athletic Complex may see some activity prior to the event, according to Inman, adding that these are staging areas for people participating in the exercise.
