ROCHELLE — Ronald James Wolford, 80, of Rochelle, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013 at his home.
He was born Jan. 8, 1933 in Marseilles, to Lester and Frances (Renz) Wolford. Ronald married Nancy Ann Ellis on July 18, 1953 in Rochelle at St. Patrick’s Church.
He served in the United States Air Force and retired from Northern Illinois University after 30 years as a painter. Ronald was a member of the Golden K and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He was also an active member at St. Patricks Catholic Church.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Dhaval Thakkar, U.W. Madison Carbone Cancer Center and Serenity Hospice and Home.
Ronald was preceded by his parents; one brother, Robert; and one sister, Mary Diane McBride.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Rochelle; son, Ronald Martin (Laurie) Wolford, of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; three daughters, Lee Ann (Brian) Henry, of Rochelle, Sue Ellen (Patrick) Latino, of South Beloit, and Lisa Smith, of Rochelle; 13 grandchildren, Jessica (Jarret) Bolin, Cara Lynn (Ryan) Custer, Josephine Latino, Brandon (Deana) Latino, Neal Latino, Shawn and Ryan Henry, Tara and Katlynn Orlikowski, Dean Smith, Eric (Missi) Holt, Adam (Janice) Holt, Erin (Rich) Johnson; and 11 great-grandchildren, Kyle, Ashlee, James, Kaylynn, Tyler, Logan, Liam, Sheamus, Landi, Evy and Tinley.
The funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 25 at St. Patrick’s Church in Rochelle. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 24 from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth Street, Rochelle.
