OREGON — Officials at Oregon High School informed parents and faculty this week of an incident involving the high school choir participation in the Solo and Ensemble competition held at West Carroll High School on March 2. Superintendent Tom Mahoney said that with the knowledge of their teacher, students performed using other students’ names in order to participate in more events than allowed by IHSA rules.
The district, upon learning of the alleged violations, immediately investigated. The investigation confirmed the incident and the school self-reported the rules violation to the IHSA. The district plans to fully cooperate with the IHSA to resolve the matter.
Oregon High School scored 240 total points and took first place in Class B in the vocal competition on March 2.
