FREEPORT — Last Thursday, senior Michelle Dobbs set a meet record and was Athlete of the Meet at the Freeport Invitational, but that wasn’t the only reason Rochelle head girls track and field coach Bruce Anderson was pleased with their seventh place finish.

“For me the highlight was that it was terrible, terrible conditions. At one point it was even snowing,” he started. “It was everything you hope not to have at a track meet, and we had a lot of girls prove how tough they were and really got after it. That’s why I am here. To see performances like that.”

Dobbs won the 800-meter dash, setting a new meet record at 2:21.22. She also won the 1,600-meter run wit a time of 5:33.19.

“I think this is the best Michelle has ever looked running,” Anderson said. “She runs all of her races from beginning to end so smooth. I just can’t ask for any more out of her.”
