ROCHELLE — Clara Mae Johnson (Plevka), 92, of Rochelle, passed away April 10, 2013 at Rochelle Rehab and Health Care. She was born on May 28, 1920 to the late Edward and Mary ( Kusy ) Plevka in Hayward Township, Minnesota.
She graduated from Austin High School and Normal Teaching College. Clara taught school in southern Minnesota for three years. She was united in marriage to Woodrow Johnson on June 14, 1942 at Hayward Lutheran Church Hayward, Minn.
Clara worked as a Teachers Aide for Rochelle and Creston Schools for several years, she also worked at Stone’s Hallmark as a clerk until her retirement.
She is survived by her children, Gregg (Betty ) Johnson of Lyle, Minn., Lois (Howard) Smith of Ault, Colo., Bonnie (Joe) Wright of Evanston, Wy., Gloria (Tim) Tyler of Waterman, and Jeannie (Jon) Rohr of Ashton; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Woodrow; daughter, Marie McIntyre; brother, Joseph Plevka; and granddaughter, Annette Maggard.
Services will be held Monday, April 15 at 11 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church Flagg Road, Rochelle. Rev. Chris Heller will officiate. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Graveside services will take place Tuesday, April 16 at 3 p.m. at the Hayward Cemetery Hayward, Minn. Memorials maybe directed to the Faith Lutheran Church or Serenity Hospice Oregon.
