ROCHELLE—The “HUB Project,” catch-up program for local students, enriches the lives of youths five days a week after school by providing academic support, life skills and the chance to participate in hands on learning activities.

The program, which is organized through Rochelle Elementary School District 231, the Flagg-Rochelle Park District and is supported by 33 community sponsors, will now allow middle school students to become “Safe Sitter” certified over the next three weeks, thanks to Rochelle Community Hospital.

The students met after school on Friday for the first of the three sessions for the program. They listened to hospital representative Emily Anaya explain the benefits of becoming a certified babysitter.
