CRESTON — After listening to a proposal from Matt Baer of Leaf River Telecommunications at last month’s Creston board meeting, president Tom Byro decided not to sign a five-year contract with the company that would allow communications equipment to be mounted on the village water tower.

He assured the board that the equipment would not cause damage to the water tower and that it would be easy to remove. Baer and colleagues also approached the Hillcrest board with the opportunity. They have yet to officially accept or deny the offer.
