ROCHELLE — It may take a while, but the day may come when trains pass through Rochelle without blaring horns that rattle residents blocks away.
City Council Public Works Committee members Ed Rice, Kathy Hollonbeck and Dennis Berg met Wednesday morning to discuss implementing a quite zone in Rochelle. There are a total of 11 roadway crossings and two pedestrian crossings in Rochelle between Burlington Northern Santa Fe and Union Pacific Railroads that will see changes if a quite zone is implemented in town. The process to become a quite zone can take 18 months from start to implementation.
