NEW ORLEANS, La. — The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced earlier this week the finalists for the 2013 Russell Athletic/WBCA Junior College National Coach of the year. Among the candidates from Illinois were Misty Opat from Rock Valley College, Cindy Stein from Illinois Central College and Kishwaukee College’s Karen Wiley.

The winner will be named during the third annual WBCA Awards Show on Monday, April 8 in New Orleans, La.

The event is part of the WBCA National Convention and is held in conjunction with the NCAA Women’s Final Four.

“The WBCA congratulates these coaches on being named finalists for the 2013 Russel Athletic/WBCA Junior Community College National Coach of the Year award,” said WBCA CEO Beth Bass. “Each coach helped lead their team to an outstanding season and were selected by their peers to be candidates for this honor. On behalf of the WBCA and its members, I wish all of these finalists the best of luck at the WBCA Awards show in New Orleans.”
