DIXON—In order to celebrate “Illinois Farming Month,” the Lee County Farm Bureau will host a 50 cent “Farmer’s Share Breakfast” on Saturday, March 23 at the Loveland Community Building in Dixon from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
In order to honor “Farming Month,” the farm bureau is hosting the deeply-discounted breakfast to demonstrate that the farmer’s share of the food dollar is only a small portion of the food prices that consumers pay at grocery stores and restaurants.
“The purpose of this breakfast is to show the general consumer that only a very small portion of their food expenditure actually goes to the farmer,” said Lee County Farm Bureau Manager Danellle Burrs.
