KC welcomes Harris as new VP of Student Services

Posted: Friday, Mar 22nd, 2013

MALTA Kishwaukee College welcomed Sedgwick Harris as the new Vice President of Student Services this spring. Harris assumed his duties on Jan. 14.

Sedgwick Harris holds an M.A. in Higher Education Leadership from Western Michigan University, a B.A. in Mass Communication with a minor in Marketing from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, and an Associates Degree in General Studies from Southwestern Michigan College. Harris comes to Kishwaukee College from a position as a Vice President of Student Services at Kaskaskia College in Centralia.

A native of Albion, Mich., Sedgwick began his career in the health and human services field doing drug addiction assessment. When his mentor overbooked his schedule, Harris was asked to attend a meeting. Although, going to this meeting was not his initial responsibility, it became a pivotal moment in his professional life. At that United Negro College Fund scholarship fundraising event, he came in contact with Dr. Ken Atwater, the Vice President of Student Services at Kellogg Community College and the rest is history.
