Obstacles didn’t stifle effort on the court

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Township High School boys basketball team may have not reached all its goals this season, but it was definitely not due to lack of effort.

Injuries plagued the Hubs all season long. Not once was every player on the varsity roster healthy at the same time, and it seemed as soon as one player would return to the lineup, two more would go down with injuries of their own.

“I am so proud of the kids and the way they handled everything,” said Rochelle head coach Tim Thompson. “It could have been really easy to pout or make excuses for the season we were having, but the kids just went out and played as hard as they could and never got too discouraged about it.”

The Hubs really got things going late in the season a few weeks when senior guard Grant Prusator returned to the lineup after missing the majority of his final season with a knee injury. It was during a game against North Lawndale High School at the Wheaton Academy Shootout, that Thompson really felt like things were starting to fall into place.
