HILLCREST—The Village of Hillcrest may be small in population, but not in its vision for future energy sustainability.
Last Wednesday the board members agreed to explore further into options for a village solar panel.
President Dale Balder, of Heavenly Winds alternative energy company, opened the floor with his report to the board on the status of potential grant support for the project. In his first proposal to the board, he promised to investigate grants, that if received, could cover up to 40 percent of the project’s expense.
“The last time I looked at the grant from the state, it wasn’t available. Now it is. I’m asking you if you want to go forward with this,” he said.
Balder also said that the village could receive extra financial support in the form of an energy credit from a brokerage company. This could give the village an extra $400 to $500 per year with the panel. For the complete article see the 03-19-2013 issue.
