ROCHELLE — Lower enrollment figures at Rochelle Township High School have forced school leaders to cut three teachers from the current staff.
As a result, teachers Mitzina Fracasso (English), Paul Cooney (Science) and Cosme Becerra (Spanish) will not be brought back for the 2013-14 school year.
“When we look at the master schedule, we see where students are scheduled and it all comes down to the numbers,” explained RTHS principal Travis McGuire. “Our numbers are unfortunately down in those course areas.”
The board also announced six cuts in aides, although often those positions are rehired later based on the needs of the district.
