ROCHELLE — Flagg Township Historical Society Museum Director Rebecca Weinstock was a guest speaker at the Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District Board meeting to report on the happenings at the museum.
Weinstock told the park district officials, who provide funding for the museum, that attendance is up 18 percent over the last eight months.
“We had 270 visitors alone at our Hispanic Heritage reception and we have served more than 400 local students and Scouts who visit on field trips,” Weinstock added. “Our mission is to collect and preserve Rochelle’s rich history and we are working on reaching out to the community through many interesting programs.”
Weinstock added that one of the longterm goals at the museum is to expand for more classroom and storage space without compromising the original 1884 building.
