ROCHELLE — Rochelle City Council members approved two purchases for the electric division of Rochelle Municipal Utilities Monday night.

City officials voted to keep bids local in the purchase of the two vehicles for RMU. Both bids were awarded to Prescott Brothers Ford of Rochelle, one for a dump truck and the other for a pick-up truck with a mounted tommy gate. Prescott was not the lowest bid received, but its figure was between $256 and $469 from the lowest bid. Prescott’s bid was $47,642.96.

The second lowest bids came from Brad Manning Ford in DeKalb.

The 2012-13 Electric Fund Capital Budget includes $58,000 for the purchase of a dump truck. The new 2013, regular cab, single axle, 4x4 truck with a dump body will replace an existing 2001 GMC dump truck in the Electric Operations Division, according to city manager David Plyman.
