ROCHELLE — As of right it now it looks as if the Northern Illinois Big–12 Athletic Conference may be two schools less after next school year. Athletic Directors from schools in the NIB–12 will be meeting on Tuesday and principals on Friday to further the discussion.
“We will be meeting on Tuesday to come up with recommendations for the principals, who are meeting on Friday,” said Rochelle Township High School Athletic Director Kevin Crandall Friday night.
According to Crandall, Dixon will be leaving the NIB–12 after the 2013-14 school year for sure, but Streator High School is also looking to part ways with the conference with level of competition being both schools’ main reason for the change.
“Both are smaller schools, and our conference is extremely competitive,” Crandall explained. “It becomes very difficult for smaller schools to compete.”
