ROCHELLE — The Royals jumped out to a quick 8-4 lead on DeKalb-Rosette, but it wasn’t enough for the Rochelle Middle School seventh grade girls’ basketball team to pick up the win.
Rosette recovered from its first quarter deficit, out-scoring the Royals 14-2 in the second quarter to end the second half up 18-10.
Rochelle outscored Rosette 6-4 in the third quarter, but it wasn’t enough to bounce back after its weak second period as the seventh-graders dropped the game 29-18.
“This was our best game of the year,” said Rochelle head coach Chad Stewart. “We played hard all game, but the second quarter let down really cost us.”
