SYCAMORE — The Hubs picked up an impressive win in Sycamore Friday night on the Spartans home court that had some big ramifications heading into the regional.
Not only did the 71-64 victory potentially knock the Spartans out of the top conference spot, bit it also demonstrated to Sycamore that Rochelle was going to be a tough match-up in the upcoming regional tournament.
“That was a big win for us,” Rochelle head coach Tim Thompson said Friday night after the game. “I think it was something that we needed to show that we could win a close game and beat the team that we are going to play in the regional. We also learned that they are one heck of a team.”
The Hubs opened up Friday night’s contest with a bang, hitting six three-pointers in the first quarter alone. Luke Manning knocked down thee, Grant Prusator made two and and Aaron Mehrings added one as Rochelle jumped out to a 23-12 first quarter lead.
