ROCHELLE — On Monday, the Rochelle Elementary School District listened to an update on the financial status of the district. The bad news is District 231 will be looking at less money from the state next year as officials prepare to plan their budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The good news school leaders have been frugal enough with their money that superintendent Todd Prusator is confident that the district will remain within their means.

“We have quite a bit saved up in our ‘rainy day,’ fund. I am confident we will be ok next year, and we should be ok as we start to think about the next few years as well,” he said.

The board also listened to an update on the HUB Project, an after school program that involves more than 300 elementary school students from May, Lincoln, Central and Rochelle Middle School. The program is tailored to at-risk students, who may require help after school to catch up.
