STERLING — If the Duchesses were going to do one thing Tuesday night when they faced Rochelle in the semifinals of the IHSA Class 3A Regional Tournament at Sterling High School, it was keep senior forward Michelle Dobbs from scoring 34 points on them again.

Dixon held Dobbs to accomplish that mission, but the rest of the Lady Hub players contributed enough offense for Rochelle to crusie to a 45-36 victory and securing itself a spot in the regional championship game against host school Sterling.

“It took a lot of girls stepping up to win this one,” said Rochelle head coach Kay Dobbs. “We knew they were going to focus on Michelle. It is nice having a number of girls you can rely on to score.”

Rochelle jumped out to a 4-1 lead on Dixon from the get-go, a lead the Lady Hubs rode through the first quarter, finishing the period up 14-7. Rochelle used a well-rounded scoring attack with buckets coming from Dobbs, Gould and a turnaround post move from sophomore Lauren Murphy to beat the first period buzzer.
